Herstory

– where weird meets wonderful, and every day is an opportunity to break the rules of fashion. It’s not just a store; it’s a vibe. Think of it as your safe space to be exactly who you are—or who you want to be. Here, international brands and underground designers coexist (see what we did there?), side by side, creating a kaleidoscope of unique, special items you won’t find anywhere else. Spoiler alert: there’s no uniformity here, and we’re living for it.

Coexist was born out of rebellion, creativity, and a deep love for standing out in a world obsessed with fitting in.

Our mission?

Simple - show the world who you really are! Create a space where no one has to fit in and everyone can find their unique voice—through fashion, creativity, and fearless self-expression.

Herstory

It all started in 2011, when a fresh-out-of-fashion-school Anna, a German graduate with big dreams and even bigger designs, packed her bags and moved to London. There, under the label Indyanna, she started creating handmade pieces—bold, fierce, and always dripping with that extra sauce—that quickly found their way into local boutiques.

But Berlin was calling, and after two years, Anna answered. Back in the edgy streets of Berlin, she stitched together a new adventure: her very own concept store in the heart of Friedrichshain.  By 2014, Coexist was official. Anna’s dream store opened its doors, a wild and rebellious space of conscious fashion choices, and a delightful refusal to follow trends. 

Coexist is more than just racks of clothing—it’s an experience. Think 90s/00s nostalgia, conscious creativity, and the perfect blend of chaos and couture. You’ll discover handmade designer pieces, funky international labels, and, of course, the in-house brand Indyanna, still thriving in our fashion studio and tailor room. Every trip here is like falling down the rabbit hole—but with way cooler clothes at the end.

After a few years in a tiny workspace filled with sewing machines, fabrics scraps, and the relentless hum of creativity and new ideas, a bigger space was needed and found right down the road from the original spot. SimplonstraĂźe 6 became the new HQ, filled with more magic, mess, and nostalgia than ever before.

And if that wasn’t enough, in November 2023, the Store expanded again—doubling down on the chaos. You can now shop for unique pieces ready for the wardrobes of the brave and unapologetic while battling your friends on our Nintendo 64 (Mario Kart, obviously), relive your childhood with a bubblegum machine that spits out trolls, and discover treasures you never knew you needed.

Here, there's no uniformity—only oddity, and it’s glorious.

Since 2018, we’ve been shipping our vibes (and pieces) to people all over the world. You can now shop our wild and wonderful designs from anywhere in the world—because why should Berlin have all the fun? Sophia the Stitch Sorceress

She is our resident sewing genius, conjuring up jaw-dropping pieces with her magic hands. If you’ve ever been wowed by our unique threads, it’s probably Sophia working her magic behind the scenes!

Jessica the Multitask Mastermind 

She is our office superhero, juggling customer service, e-commerce, and even photography like a pro. From answering your Emails to snapping the coolest shots—Jessica’s got it all under control! Even her own jewelry brand Shopelephantegg which you can also find in store.

Tinka the Retail Rockstar

With one foot in the store and another behind the sewing machine, Tinka is the star of balance! She’s always keeping the inventory tight, while rocking retail, always there to help out customers and being a genius in remembering every pieces placement in the store.

Jia the Socials and Styling Siren 

They are your go-to for all things social, content, styling, and marketing. Jia is the creative mind behind our fierce photoshoots, making sure you’re always getting new inspiration and insights. Serving customers and looks in retail, they are bringing you the magic online and offline, spreading enchanted wisdom about the club and queer scene and luring new hidden away misfits into the store energy to help them connect with their uniqueness.

Serin the Tutti - Frutti Face of Fabulous

She is the first smiling face you’ll see when you step through our doors. Whether you’re shopping or just vibing with us in-store, Serin’s here to make your visit unforgettable and even giving you special insights in Berlins underground bands, queer and creative scene as part of her own magazine publishing.

And of course, Anna the Visionary Founder, the one who started it all

our fearless BOSS B, who juggles designing more insane pieces and managing this creative, inclusive, and slightly chaotic space with love and passion.

Together, we’re more than just a team—we’re a family crafting a space where creativity runs wild, individuality is celebrated, weirdness reigns and fashion refuses to be boxed in. We make the rules, and breaking them is part of the fun.
